Senior Information

June 6, 2021

Dear Parents and Seniors,

I pray that you are having a great summer!  As we approach the new school year, I wanted to take the time to let you know about some things to look forward to during your senior year. We are praying that your senior year will be an Awesome year full of great achievements academically, athletically, and spiritually, fun, friendships, and lifelong memories.

You will receive a flyer in the mail or email from Prestige Studios about senior pictures.   You can call ahead (398-5606) to make your appointment. You are not obligated to purchase your pictures from Prestige, however, your picture for the yearbook must come from Prestige.  In order to ensure that your proofs are back in time for the yearbook, you need to have your pictures taken by August 31, 2021.

Please Note:  Formal Senior pictures submitted for the school’s yearbook must comply with the school’s dress code as outlined in the Parent/Student Manual.

The Jostens representative will be at the school on September 29, 2021, to do a presentation of announcements, caps and gowns, memory books, and t-shirts, which are just a few of the many things that will be available to order.  We will have a mandatory senior meeting on October 13, 2021, in the lunchroom.  During this time, the Jostens Representative will be there to take orders for senior announcements.  This would be the time to order a class ring if you want one.  The only required purchase is your cap and gown.

The senior trips we will be offering this year are a ski trip and a trip to Disney World.

The ski trip will be January 12 – 15, 2022.  We will be going to Flat Top, West Virginia.  The cost of the trip is $635.00, which includes the following:

Transportation

Accommodations and breakfast

2 day lift tickets and ski equipment

The Disney Trip will be April 4, 2022 – 8, 2022.  The cost of this trip is $680.00, which includes the following:

Transportation

Accommodations – Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

3 Day Park Hopper Pass to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot, plus admission to Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and one add-on.

There is a $100.00 deposit fee per trip due by August 5, 2021.  The attached form must be signed and returned with the deposit.  The ski trip must be paid in full by December 9, 2021.  The Disney trip must be paid in full by February 11, 2022.

We will also be making a senior video for the end of the year.  I will need some pictures of each senior.  The following is a list of what I will need:

1 – Baby picture

1 – Miscellaneous pictures (family, friends, hobby, etc.)

1 – Graduation picture (we will have the graduation picture on file)

No more than two pictures may be submitted.  These pictures will need to be scanned onto a disc or emailed to me (mcain@evajax.com) All pictures must be turned in to me no later than October 13, 2021, at the senior breakfast.

There will be information available at senior parent meeting on the purchase of senior ads for the yearbook.

Reminder:  One of our graduation requirements is that each senior must take either the ACT or the SAT.  To see the 2021-2022 schedule and register go to the following websites:

SAT – collegeboard.org

ACT – actstudent.org

Parents need to attend the fall senior meetings August 26, 2021, at 6:30pm.  This meeting has all the information you will need to help your senior have a successful senior year and to help prepare for post graduation plans.

Community Service: This year’s senior class will need a total of 48 hours of community service (12 per year for every year of attendance 9th – 12th grade at EVA) as part of their graduation requirements.  Most of the seniors are well on their way to meeting that goal.  We will offer some community service hours (between 5-10 hours) during the school year.  I am the community service coordinator. If you have any question concerning hours I would glad to help.  All hours are to be turned in directly to me.

Finally, there is a senior fee of $125.00 that is due at orientation on August 5, 2021 to off-set the cost of graduation expenses.

We will have a link on our website (www.evajax.com) just for seniors.  This will have all the information that I send home with your seniors and reminders of upcoming events.  Information will also be posted on Twitter, Facebook, and the bulletin board outside the high school office.

Senior Dress Code 2021-2022

We will have a modified dress code for seniors during the 2021-2022 school year. We realize that this change with one year left could present a hardship, but we still want EVA students to be easily recognizable as such when they are at school. Seniors will have to wear a uniform shirt Monday through Thursday, but they will be able to wear jeans every day if they choose instead of black or khaki pants/shorts that all other grades will have to wear. We will also have a senior-only shirt that will be in a different color and indicate Class of 2022 so that it is still an EVA shirt and identifiable for security purposes, but only for seniors. Our purpose in this is to keep senior parents from having to purchase all new pants/shorts for students that will only be under the new uniform dress code for one year. On Fridays, all students can wear jeans and an EVA t-shirt. This will be the same for the seniors. All other dress code policies will be the same for seniors as they are for other middle and high school students.

Our prayer is that this will be a very memorable time in the life of your senior.  If you have any questions, please call me at 786-1411.

Sincerely,

Marian Cain

Events Coordinator
