EVA Update for 9-3-21

Good afternoon EVA family!

We are a month into the 2021-2022 school year already. It has been a great start to the school year, and I have enjoyed seeing and speaking with so many of your students. Working at a school is never boring because students are never boring, and I am thankful for that. As you go into the Labor Day weekend, here are few things to know about the coming week.

Mid-quarter progress reports went home today with your students and were also posted to the e-portfolio in the Parent-Student Portal. Please check out these reports and check in with your students on how they are doing in their classes. Since we are only midway through the quarter, there is plenty of time to address any grade concerns by speaking with your student, emailing a teacher, or setting up a conference with teachers if needed. To request a conference, contact the school office at 904-786-1411.

The school will be closed on Monday, September 6th, in observance of Labor Day. We will resume school on Tuesday, September 7th.

On Tuesday, representatives from the Hanley Foundation will be conducting workshops with our 6th-12th grade students in their Bible classes. The Hanley Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides substance abuse prevention programming in 21 counties throughout the state of Florida. The Hanley Foundation truly believes in the power of prevention and community involvement.  In the next couple months, their professional staff will present their evidence-based programming on the topics of Vaping and Marijuana use and Alcohol Literacy to our 6th – 12th Grade Students. They will also have a small display table in the lobby for parent resources and a sign-up sheet for parents who may be interested in participating in their Active Parenting Program.  We believe this partnership with the Hanley group will benefit the students and families of EVA.

Wednesday, September 8th, is fall Picture Day. Individual student pictures will be taken of all students in grades K-5 through 11. Class pictures will also be taken on that day. Have your students looking their best!

On Friday, September 10th, we would like to have as many grandparents of our K-5 through 6th grade students as possible participate in a drive-through Grandparents Day Parade here on campus. The parade will start at 8:15 and those grandparents that can participate will queue in the church parking lots on the southwest corner of the block our school sits on. At 8:15, we will have the grandparents drive through a couple of times as we cheer and celebrate them and all that they do for us. If you have a student in elementary here at EVA, please share this information with their grandparents so they can be a part if they would like to be. It will start at 8:15 and end around 8:30. We will be sending home more information about this with our elementary students.

The fall fundraiser continues through next week. We appreciate all of you that have sold items already and spread the word to your family and friends. Please continue to earn those incentives.

That is all for now. Have a fantastic weekend and we will see you on Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Josh Sheetz
