29 Jul EVA Update for 7/29/22
Good afternoon EVA family!
Things are heating up here at the school as we prepare for your students to come back. Not just because the temperatures are climbing, but also because we are busy getting ready for the return of our students. On Monday, our teachers come back as preparations continue for the new year. Here are a few things to know as the start of school approaches.
The first day of school is Thursday, August 11th. One week before that on August 4th (this Thursday) will be Parent/Student Orientation night. Orientation is a great time to meet your teachers, find your classrooms, and locate your lockers. Orientation for returning students and their families will be from 4pm-5pm. Orientation for new students and their families will be from 6pm-7pm that night. If you have a new and returning student, feel free to attend whichever works best for your family. We will have a short presentation at the beginning of both orientations to share some important news and then you are free to come and go as you please.
Just before the first day of school, we have the return of our Back-to-School Retreat. All middle and high school students (grades 7-12) are invited to join us August 8-10 at Camp Anderson Anchored in Old Town, FL. It will be 2 nights and 3 days of building relationships, having fun, and refocusing spiritually before the school year begins. The cost for the retreat is $170, and you can register your student by calling the school office at 904-786-1411.
Your students should begin doing their summer reading now if they have not done so already. EVA has a summer reading list for all students in grades 4 through 12. To find the information for your specific student, see the website below.
Right now, Florida is in the middle of the Back-to-School Tax Free holiday that has been running since July 25th and will continue through August 7th. As you purchase your student’s Back-to-School supplies, be sure to look at the supply lists for your student’s grade level. Those can be found on our school website at the link below.
Finally, you can now order school lunches for Tuesdays through Fridays by setting up an account with My Hotlunchbox. If you have an account from last year, you must update your student’s grade level before you can order lunches for the new school year. This year, we will partner with Firehouse Subs on Tuesdays, Chick-Fil-A on Wednesdays, The Loop on Thursdays, and Whataburger on Fridays. All orders through My Hotlunchbox must be placed by noon the day before. On Mondays, we will continue to partner with Papa John’s Pizza as we have in the past and you will be able to order that each Monday at school. Money for pizza on Mondays will be collected first hour by teachers so that the order can be placed in time for lunch.
That is a lot, and it is all for now. Stay cool this weekend and hopefully I will see you Thursday at Orientation!
