22 Oct EVA Update for 10-22-21
Good afternoon EVA family!
The second quarter is well underway, and we are thankful for the full week of classes after a couple of unique weeks. As we move further into the fall, here are a few things to know.
Our annual Food Drive starts this Monday. October 25th, and it will go for two weeks until November 5th. We do this in partnership with the Salvation Army and all of the food that the EVA family donates goes to those in need here in our local community. As you are out shopping over the next few weeks, please grab a few of the following if you are able: Boxed Cornbread, Canned Vegetables, Cake or Brownie Mix, Boxed Stuffing, Canned Cranberries, Evaporated Milk, Boxed Mashed Potatoes, Rice, and Boxed Mac N’ Cheese. Students should take their donations to their homeroom or first hour class so that we can keep track of the class who brings in the most.
Thank you to all that took our First Quarter survey. A few of you mentioned that the Parent/Student Portal could be a little easier to access regularly. Did you know that you can have emails with grades and attendance updates sent to you automatically by the portal? If that interests you, log into the portal and then click on the drop-down arrow next to your name on the top row. The last option in that menu will be Email-Notifications. Click on that and it will take you to the next screen where you can choose how often you get notifications, what you want to receive notifications about, and where you want those notifications sent. I prefer to get a weekly email that allows me to see my student’s grades without even logging into the portal, but you can set the notifications to whatever works best for you. This has helped me be more consistent in talking with my students about their grades.
Our basketball teams will be starting up here in the near future. Varsity girls’ tryouts were this week in the gym, and middle school girls’ basketball tryouts will take place next week after school in the gym. Boys in grades 6-12 can try out for basketball starting the following Monday, November 1st. If your son or daughter has any interest in basketball, please have them bring their gear and give it a try.
Finally, one item to add to the calendar- we will be having an elementary Christmas program on Tuesday, December 7th, at 6:30pm in the gym. We would love to have as many of our elementary students and their families as possible join us for that event.
That is all for now. Have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday!
