EVA Update for 10-1-21

Good afternoon EVA family!

October is here. The calendar is full. And the students are full of energy. I hope that your week has gone well. Here are a few things to know about the days ahead.

The first quarter of the school year ends on Monday. Be sure to check the Parent/Student Portal this weekend and email teachers any questions you have about grades or missing work. Starting Monday afternoon, grades and grade reports will no longer be available in the portal until the first quarter report cards post on Monday, October 11th. On the 11th, all first quarter report cards, second quarter grades, and grade reports will be visible again. Report cards are only posted to the Parent/Student Portal and are not printed and sent home.

Next week is Spirit Week 2021. This week provides students in all grades with the opportunity to have some fun and show off their school spirit. Each day has a different dress-up theme that students can participate in. Please see the attached sheet that has the themes for each day and plan to have a great time. As your students think about what to wear, please keep in mind that the level of dress should be at least Friday dress and modesty is always the ultimate guideline.

Spirit Week kicks off on Monday night at 7pm with the Homecoming King Competition. Our senior guys will compete for the title of King by answering trivia, performing unusual athletic feats, and demonstrating a broad knowledge of music and culture. Parents and students are welcome to come and cheer them on. The Homecoming game itself takes place at 7pm on Friday, October 8th, at SOS Academy Field (6974 Wilson Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32210), and the homecoming festivities will take place on the field at halftime. Join us at the game to see who earns the crown and title of Homecoming Queen 2021. Finally, our high school students end the week at our Homecoming Dance. The dance takes place from 8pm to 11pm here at the EVA gym. Tickets are available through the school office.

As a quick school policy reminder…EVA does not accept deliveries from any third-party companies such as Door Dash, Uber Eats, Dominoes, or any other food vendor. Parents are welcome to drop off lunches for students, but third parties and other students may not. This allows us to limit the number of visitors to the campus each day and helps ensure your student’s safety.

There are a couple of upcoming calendar dates to plan for. We have no school on Monday, October 11th, and on Wednesday, October 13th, our 8th-11th grade students will be taking the PSAT. The 8th-11th grade students will have a half-day dismissal at 11:50am, and students in K-5 through 7th have no school on that day. Seniors have a mandatory student meeting on October 13th from 8:30am-10:30am here at the school in the lunchroom building.

Finally, as we finish the first quarter, we would like your feedback on a few topics. If you would click on the link below and complete the short survey, we would greatly appreciate it.
