17 Aug EVA Update 8-13-21
Good afternoon EVA family!
What a week! It was so great to have the halls filled with students again. As we end this first week of school, I want to thank you for the opportunity to partner with you in the education of your student(s).
As we begin the second week of the year, please continue to have a consistent routine for your student and help them develop good habits. Students of all ages benefit from plenty of rest, a good breakfast before school, and a specific place at home where they can do school work when needed. When students arrive home after school, they often need some time doing non-school activities so that they can recharge and later be successful doing homework or studying for tests or quizzes the next day. Students that participate in sports need to drink water throughout evening and the school day so that they can be at their best through a season of practices and games.
The students have looked very sharp in their uniforms this past week. If your student’s uniform shirts have not come in and they are still wearing non-uniform polo shirts, please provide the front office with proof that they have been ordered. We know that some are still waiting on the uniform store and proof of purchase will help us monitor that. Any student not in dress code may be sent home. All students in middle and high school (grades 7-12) PE classes must wear the approved PE uniform during those classes. The PE uniform is available in the school store online or in their storefront in Orange Park. Student textbooks are another essential item. If you have ordered your textbooks but they have not come in yet, please let the front office know so that we can make copies until the ordered books have come in. We cannot make copies of books that have not been ordered.
Tropical Storm Fred has been in the news lately. While it does not appear that Fred will affect Jacksonville in any significant way, this is a great time to share our policy with regard to inclement weather. Anytime there is a possibility of school closure due to inclement weather, EVA follows the lead of the Duval County Public Schools. If you hear they will be closed because of inclement weather, then we will be closed as well. We will do everything within our power to notify you via phone, text, and email as well, but we will follow their lead. Our re-opening plans my differ from theirs on occasion because we are much smaller than an entire school district, but that will depend on the circumstances and our ability to communicate with the EVA family.
With all of that said, enjoy your weekend and we will see you Monday!
Sincerely,
Josh Sheetz
